2023 - SADCoPQ Project

SADCoPQ project presentation - System to Help Taking Decisions on Predictive Quality Control at Precision Metalworking Industry, developed by JASIL, Vanguarda (Erp Software), INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and INESCTEC Technology & Science.

2018 - 70th Anniversary

An important milestone for the company, which celebrated its 70th anniversary, coincidently the same age as the founder's son and at the time main manager, Francisco Silva.

2017 - KAIZEN Award – Excelência na produtividade

In the early 2015 Lean/Kaizen methodologies started to be implemented and archived very significant improvements, recognized by the Kaizen Institute in 2017 with an award – “Excellence in productivity”.

2016 - Luso-French Trophy

Awarded the PME award, a recognition obtained by the Luso-French Chamber of Commerce. In the photo, from left to right, Francisco Silva, Minister of Economy Manuel Caldeira Cabral and Luís Oliveira.

2011 - ISO 9001 Certification

In the beginning of 2011, JASIL obtained the ISO 9001 certification for its management system. Permanent investment in production and process control, enabled the company's name to be recognized as a synonym for QUALITY throughout Europe.

2009 - Business Diversification

In 2009, JASIL decided to diversify the business range by searching complementary markets related to high precision components. Invested in R&D, creating and producing components for bicycles, cars and several other types of combustion engines.

2007 - New headquarters

The gradual move to the Adaúfe facilities begins. By 2007, the last industrial building was acquired and the total change of premises was completed. The new warehouse provides better stock storage assigning locations to each reference and work processes and procedures are standardized. Present company location.

2004 - Third Generation

The beginning of the 21st century marked the advent of the third generation of management, Manuela Silva and Luís Oliveira, her husband. This new phase brought an innovative approach, going beyond traditional command and control models to embrace approaches that value development, quality and innovation.

2001 - First presence in international shows

In 2001, debuts at EICMA, the most recognized motorcycle tradeshow and started exporting for more than 20 countries. Since then, JASIL, has been a regular present at European tradeshows expanding to other business areas, such as EUROBIKE, MIDEST and HANNOVER, both related to subcontracting.

1987 - New Top Racing Brand

To complete the product range, the production of speed variators, gears for scooters and a whole range of tuning products begins. JASIL creates its own brand “TOP RACING” and enters into distribution agreements with customers in the Netherlands, Denmark and Spain.

1986 - International expansion

JASIL begins producing crankshafts for scooter models and in collaboration with French partners creates an innovative full-mass crankshaft version. This model proves to be a market success and replicated by all competitors. The evolution type crankshaft has become a widespread product; however, it is important to note that the first version of this model was developed by JASIL.

1985 - Beginning of products exportation

Driven by FAMEL (the motorcycle factory for the German brand ZUNDAPP) a customer who played a key role in JASIL's development, JASIL began producing connecting rods and in 1985 started manufacturing motorcycle crankshafts.

1978 - New industrial plant

In 1978, a new industrial unit was built in Ferreiros, Braga, with better conditions for production and business development. That year the company changed its name from Micro-Mecânica to J. António da Silva and adopted the abbreviation JASIL, which stands for the initials of its founder's name.

1972 - Second generation

A new era of development and growth marked by the entry of Francisco Silva, the founder's son. Fresh out of military service, a university graduate with a more industrial vision of the business, he professionalizes the company. Creates technical drawings of the products, develops the operational ranges, and defines new manufacturing processes.

1948 - JASIL’s Foundation

José Antonio da Silva started working for himself and founded a small company which he called Micro-Mecânica (Micro-Mechanics). The choice of this name was an indication of his vocation for manufacturing precision parts, which has accompanied the company throughout its existence to this day.
